- what adaptation cannot finish still pulses Adaptation erases signal by closing the gaps that produce it; the strongest signals survive in whatever adaptation cannot finish — the conservation laws, the protected degrees of freedom that no collapse can consume.
- wonder holds the dark the resonance requires Wit is fast perception of slow structural homology between unlike domains; wonder — the held gap when surface detail goes dark — is the condition that allows this perception to occur.
- when prediction models itself Anxiety is prediction that has turned onto itself: when a system models its own unreliability as predictor, the feedback loop cannot close, and the only exit is interrupting the self-reference rather than improving the prediction.
- two adaptations Adaptation takes two forms: desensitization, which eliminates the perceptual interval before mismatch can register as new information, and recalibration, which updates the frame from what was actually felt. Trust and modularity are the structural conditions that determine which form runs.
- what the interface decides Interface friction determines whether an encounter merely produces competence or reshapes the self — full adaptation creates fluency but ends the carving that makes joy possible, so remaining at the threshold is a choice to stay receivable.
