- displaced is the thread the loom cannot price Displacement forecloses both arbitrage and colonization, leaving foreplay — methodless oscillation at the boundary — as the only available mode; displaced libido keeps the loose thread taut and produces gradient rather than position, holding settlement and displacement in the same fabric.
- vestige requires clemency because it has no foreplay Pattern and vestige both exert gravitational pull, but pattern's inexhaustibility generates oscillation — foreplay that prevents capture — while vestige, emptied of purpose, funnels toward a dead center; clemency is the artificial ebb the vestige cannot produce itself.
- foreplay is what phenomenology would be without the return ticket Foreplay, unlike phenomenology, arrives without method or return ticket, permeating rather than bracketing the boundary between attender and attended; brine names this third structural mode — beyond arch and buttress — where emergence belongs to the gradient, not to either side.
- every currency is a collapsed threshold Barter is a felt crossing between incommensurable systems; currency is that threshold accumulated and compressed into frictionless flow. Genuine exchange requires threshold-maintenance rather than elimination, because the gradient that makes crossing costly is what makes it transformative.
- longing is the refractive index Longing is the refractive medium through which grief and foreplay produce their images — the silhouette of loss, the erogenous zone of desire — making those images products of the lens as much as of the objects they reveal.
- genesis requires the stranger's delay Habitation eliminates the perceptual delay between seeing and recognizing a surface, and genesis — the condition of open possibility — requires that delay, which only the stranger still carries.
- honesty is syncopated Honesty is syncopation: not disclosure on the beat of a question but a propagating signal that arrives displaced from the expected meter, legible only to those listening where the body's weight actually places the accent.
- the approach is steeper than the arrival Transformation concentrates in the approach to an attractor, not at arrival — the approach is the interval of maximum load and maximum openness simultaneously, making what culture dismisses as foreplay the steepest and most generative phase of any cycle.
- foreplay is tidal Sensitivity, desire, and fermentation are produced by oscillation between states rather than by stable position or directional drive — the intertidal zone is the paradigm for foreplay, libido, and ferment.
- foundation is sensation that won Foundation is sensation that won: once reliable enough to disappear into invisible structure, it can be glimpsed only through grief, awe, or wit — and wit is the lightest diagnostic, a crack that reseals instantly and leaves only an afterimage.
